NixCon 2025: The schedule is public!

Dear NixCon attendees!

The long wait is over. The curtain has fallen. Drum roll please :drum:v1.0 v2.0 v4.0[1] of the NixCon 2025 schedule is released onto an unsuspecting world! :sparkler:

Do not be fooled by the stable-looking version number: the schedule may still change in response to external factors such as speaker availability. Please keep an eye on it before and during the event. [2][3]

Additional notes:

  • :robot: We accepted exactly 64 sessions, and sadly had to reject 32.[4]
  • :speaking_head: This year, no speaker leads more than one session.

  • :stopwatch: Some sessions have been shortened so we could optimise the schedule.

If you are a speaker, double-check your session in the schedule, as the duration listed in the email might be wrong (thanks pretalx).

  • :axe: We have kept the schedule free of talks on Sunday to make it a hackday.

  • :zap: As is usually the case with lightning talks, we will schedule them on a best-effort basis. We cannot guarantee their exact start time, but we will try to stick to their order in the schedule.

  • :bulb: There will be an opportunity to give spontaneous lightning talks after all the scheduled ones.

  • :honeybee: Bee

  1. Can you guess how the sequence continues? ↩︎

  2. You may of course continue to keep an eye on it afterwards, but do not expect too many changes after the event is over. :eye::eye: ↩︎

  3. While we were writing this post, a speaker has notified us that they can’t make it. That makes v4.0 deprecated already. ↩︎

  4. This may look intentional, but we assure you that it wasn’t. ↩︎

imagine your own talk schedule conflicts with a session you really want to attend :sob::sob::sob:

Will workshop talks be recorded? IIRC, they were not recorded last year. I am really interested in one of this year’s workshop talk.

The talks in the Aula and Lecture Hall will be recorded, but the workshops will not be recorded.

Our A/V team and equipment are already tasked to capacity. Additionally, workshops are intended to be interactive, not a talk, making them potentially less interesting to watch afterwards.

Many talks I would love to attend. It’s so annyoing. Living less than 100km away from the venue, but still not able to be there. Good job in setting this up. And I wish all the speakers good luck and much success and to those who attend, have fun and welcome to Switzerland!
